A Burgundy Naugahyde Sofa
If I was asked to describe some of my running routes, there would be references to plenty of hills, curves, trees, ponds, and barns. Yes, there are street signs - few and far between - but a runner needs to be attentive to landmarks especially to negotiate the backwoods roads of Guilford. Yesterday's run took me up Sweet Pond Rd., then at the top of the hill I took a left onto Abijah Prince Rd. The further you run on Abijah Prince Rd., the more remote it gets until you're running on a trail. At some point you come to a fork in the trail, and there sits a burgundy naugahyde sofa. I suppose if you're really tired, you could sit. But if you want to keep running, take a left. That'll bring you to the foot of a hill on Packer Corner Rd. You'll then keep running until you get to Weatherhead Hollow Rd., then take a left to run past the Franklin Farm (say "Hi" to Mary Ellen, Dave, and the boys), then head back home. For me this is about a 10K run (and it's very, very hilly). But what makes it most fun is
that sofa in the middle of the woods.
